Bad News, Good News

Refrigerator Edition:

The bad news is, the fridge stopped working yesterday.

The good news is, this is our grocery-shopping weekend so there wasn't too much in the freezer to go bad.

The bad news is, what WAS there had to be moved out into the freezer in the garage.

The good news is, it all fit inside.

The weather has been unusually mild this winter. That's good news, unless your fridge isn't cooling and you've got cheese, eggs, and milk to keep cold, in which case a good snowstorm would be useful.

The good news is, milk freezes.

The other good news is, our neighbors made room in their fridge for the cheese and eggs.

The good news is, the repairman came this morning and fixed the fridge.

The bad news is, he said we have to clean out the ten years' worth of gunk underneath.

The really good news is, Daphne was so impressed that we have a working refrigerator, and that many others in the world don't, that she donated $3 out of her bank to children in India via WorldVision.

Quiet Play Edition

The bad news is, Pip has outgrown his 2:00 naptime.

The good news is, he'll cooperate with Quiet Play.

The bad news is, I've had to reduce Quiet Play from 45 minutes to 30 minutes to accommodate his two-year-old patience.

The further bad news is, I've been used to sleeping even after the timer goes off, but now I really can't because there's a toddler lose in the house.

The worst news for the household is that I've been short of sleep for about two weeks.

The bad news is, he won't stay in his room alone.

The good news is, he has two sisters who argue over who gets "Pip duty" each afternoon.

The bad news is, he still naps: it's just two hours later, when there's no way I can get any rest.

The good news is, he usually falls asleep cuddled up on my lap on the couch.

Birthday Edition

The good news is, I had a birthday this past week. I turned 35.

The bad news is... well, let's see. I'm healthy, I like being older and wiser, my husband still thinks I'm hot, my kids are old enough to realize that Mama gets a special day, and I have lots of family and friends who made a point to wish me a happy birthday.

Guess there's no bad news for this one.

It's true. 35 is a good age. Sure beats 15.

I am glad that the ref. is ok.
Can't believe the birthday number you posted--where did all those years go!

It is great the Pip's sisters want to take care of him; I know he is cute, cute, cute, but he is also a very busy boy.

Don't worry, Sara. You'll always be about 16 to me.

Nice afternoon treat to have a little boy go to sleep on your lap. Too soon that will end.

Glad the fridge saga worked out well.

How fun! I love this post!

I also love this: "The good news is, he has two sisters who argue over who gets "Pip duty" each afternoon." Having only boys and spending most of my life hoping I'd only have boys, I was quite nervous when I found out we were having a girl last year - but boy oh boy how much I would have missed out on if I hadn't had a girl! They're WAY cooler than I thought! (I do understand I am one, but maybe I'm the reason I ddn't want a girl?) This whole nurturing thing is just going to be awesome! I love that they argue over who gets to take care of Pip!!!

And yes, my friend, as a professional at being 35 for three months now, I can tell you that there are good things about it. I can't remember what they are, but I'm sure they're good.

Fun, fun, fun post!!!
